Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Singapore Shopping Centres is an informational directory for shopping centres, brands, events and offers in Singapore. We collect a limited amount of information — mainly what you choose to give us through our forms — to operate the site, respond to enquiries, review submissions, and process advertising requests.

We do not require you to create an account or log in to browse the site. Most visitors use singaporeshoppingcentres.com without giving us any personal data at all.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us directly

We collect information you voluntarily submit through our forms:

• Contact form — your name, email address, the reason for contacting us, and your message.
• Contribute / report-an-update form — the brand and shopping centre you are reporting on, details and source links you provide, an optional contact email if you want a reply, any photos you choose to upload, and whether you are submitting as an official representative of the brand or shopping centre.
• Advertise / placement request form — advertiser or business name, email address, requested placement and dates, ad headline and copy, and any creative image URL or external link you provide.
• Opening confirm/report feedback — this is anonymous by design. We do not collect your name, email or any identifying information when you use it.

Information collected automatically

When you browse singaporeshoppingcentres.com, our servers automatically log standard technical information — your IP address, browser/device user-agent string, the page viewed, and basic interaction events (such as clicking through to a listing, or how long a page was open). This is used only in aggregate, to understand which listings are actually useful to visitors, and is not used to build a profile of any individual or to serve targeted advertising.

To support this, your browser stores a randomly generated identifier in local storage on your device. It is not linked to your name, email or any other personal information, and it is not shared with any third party. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not sell or rent this data.

3. How we use your information

• To respond to enquiries sent through our contact form;
• To review, verify and, where appropriate, publish community and brand submissions about openings, closures and corrections;
• To review advertising and placement requests, confirm slot availability, and communicate with advertisers about approval and payment;
• To understand, in aggregate, which listings and pages are useful to visitors, so we can prioritise keeping the most-viewed information accurate and up to date;
• To detect and prevent spam, abuse or fraudulent submissions; and
• To comply with our legal obligations.

We do not use your personal data for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you.

4. Our basis for processing your data

Where you submit a form, you are giving us your consent to process that information for the purpose stated on the form (responding to you, reviewing your submission, or processing your advertising request). Where we log automatic technical data, we rely on our legitimate interest in operating, securing and improving the website — kept proportionate and non-intrusive as described in Section 2.

5. Review is not automatic approval

Submitting a contribute report, brand correction, or advertising placement request does not, by itself, reserve a slot, confirm publication, or create any obligation on Singapore Shopping Centres to publish, approve or act on it. Every submission is subject to editorial or administrative review, and we may decline, delay, or request more information before making a decision.

For advertising specifically: a requested slot and date range are not held or guaranteed until we have reviewed the request and sent written confirmation. Where multiple requests are received for the same slot, availability is resolved at our discretion, and an earlier submission does not by itself guarantee priority. No payment is requested, and no charge is made, before a request is approved.

6. Who we share information with

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data. We share information only with the service providers that help us run the site, each acting on our instructions and only for that purpose:

• A database hosting provider, which stores submitted form data;
• A web hosting provider, which serves the website and processes technical request logs;
• An email delivery provider, used to send confirmation emails and internal notifications;
• An image hosting provider, used to store photos submitted through our forms or uploaded by our team.

We may also disclose information where required by law, to enforce our Terms of Service, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Singapore Shopping Centres, our users, or the public.

7. How long we keep it

We keep submission data for as long as reasonably necessary to action it, maintain accurate records of published listings, and meet our legal and accounting obligations. Advertising records are kept for our financial and audit purposes. You may ask us to delete personal data that is no longer needed for these purposes — see Section 9.

8. How we protect your information

We use industry-standard measures — including access controls and encrypted transmission (HTTPS) — to protect information submitted to us. No online service can guarantee absolute security, and we cannot guarantee that information you transmit to us will never be accessed, disclosed, altered or destroyed by a breach of any of our safeguards.

9. Your rights under the PDPA

Subject to applicable exceptions, you may ask us to:

• Confirm whether we hold personal data about you;
• Access the personal data we hold about you;
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data; and
• Withdraw consent to our use of your personal data, or ask us to delete it — noting that this may mean we can no longer act on a submission or advertising request that depends on it.

To make a request, contact us at privacy@singaporeshoppingcentres.com. We may need to verify your identity before actioning a request, and we will respond within a reasonable time.

10. Children’s privacy

Singapore Shopping Centres is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to remove it.

11. Third-party links and content

Our directory links to, references, and displays information about third-party businesses, shopping centres and brands. Those businesses have their own privacy practices, which we do not control. This Policy only covers information collected by Singapore Shopping Centres itself.

12. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Continued use of singaporeshoppingcentres.com after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Policy.
